Kicker Garrett Hartley’s right hip injury could keep him out for over two months, James Varney of The Times-Picayune reports.
Hartley, who was signed to a five-year, $6.277 million extension before the lockout, suffered a hip flexor during an extra point attempt in Sunday night’s preseason win over the Oakland Raiders. The injury will keep Hartley out for at least six weeks, and perhaps as many as ten.
A lengthy recovery could force the Saints to place Hartley on injured reserve.
The Saints added 41-year-old John Kasay during the week. The veteran was clearly rusty, missing his first two attempts in the preseason finale, including an extra point attempt.
Sure hope he gets better. Hartley is hero to most Saints fans.
