Black Eyed Peas picked for the Super Bowl XLV Halftime show

It looks like for the first time since the incident involving Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson, NFL fans will get a music act at halftime of the Super Bowl that isn’t ready to enter the retirement home.

Word from sources is it will be the Black Eyed Peas playing at halftime of the biggest game of the NFL season when the AFC and NFC champions meet in Dallas on February 6th, 2011.

Since the “waldrobe malfunction” incident back in 2004, the NFL has gone with older acts, including – The Who, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

The Black Eyed Peas are composed of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist and vocalists, Taboo, and Fergie. Since their third album Elephunk in 2003, the group has sold an estimated 35 million albums worldwide and 21 million singles, and 56 million copies with both sales combined.

The group has played the 2005 Super Bowl pregame show that was titled, “Bridging Generations,” and also performed at the 2009 NFL Kickoff Concert in Pittsburgh.
