Saints Sign Veteran QB Patrick Ramsey

The Saints have inked veteran backup QB Patrick Ramsey to a deal:

Patrick Ramsey, a ninth-year NFL veteran orginally a first-round draft pick of the Redskin in 2002, is joining the Pelican State’s beloved reigning Super Bowl champions. The Saints announced the signing of Ramsey on Wednesday, for all intents and purposes, he essentially replaces free agent Mark Brunell as Drew Brees’ primary backup. Ramsey bounced between the Titans and Lions in 2009, after serving as a Broncos reserve in 2008. Speaking of Brunell, he’s talking to the Jets about becoming Mark Sanchez’s backup, giving that team a little more experience than Kellen Clemens. Ramsey gets a one-year contract to pretty much sit on the bench, because as you might know, Brees is as durable as they come.
