Jermon Bushrod has the unenviable task of blocking Vikings Pro Bowl DE Jared Allen this week. Sure, Allen has averaged 14.5 sacks over the last couple of years. But, that doesn’t mean that his teammates don’t have faith in the young Bushrod, even his quarterback.
“Hey, that’s going to be a huge challenge for him, ” Drew Brees said of his left tackle. “But I think (Bushrod) is a guy who has gotten better every week, and he seems to have always stepped up to the challenge.”
Bushrod knows what he’s facing in the highly energetic and eccentric Minnesota defensive end.
“He’s a great player with great size and great speed, great power, ” Bushrod said of Allen. “But he has a high motor. He’s a good player who has to be accounted for on every single play . . . whether your running to him or away from, he has to be accounted for.”
But, his linemates are confident Bushrod can handle his own. Said Pro Bowl guard Jahri Evans of Bushrod
He’s done a tremendous job this year at the left tackle spot, he continues to do a great job, and it just shows the hard work that he put in, mentally, physically going throughout the week. I see him in here every week taking care of his body, every week in the film room watching extra film, extra homework for his opponent ahead.
Good Luck with That 🙂
