Saints Ink Running Backs Matt Dayes and Javorius “Buck” Allen

The Saints announced the signing of running backs Matt Dayes and Javorius “Buck” Allen, Josh Katzenstein of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

To make room for the additions, the Saints waived two undrafted rookies, running back A.J. Ouellette and cornerback Jordan Wyatt.

The team hosted a handful of running backs for workouts last Thursday, and Dayes and Allen will join a Saints group led by Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray.

Dayes, a North Carolina State product, was a seventh-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2017. As a rookie, he played 16 games but had just five carries for 13 yards and four catches for 29 yards.

Allen, a former USC standout, was a fourth-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2015. In 54 games for the Ravens the past four seasons, Allen had 340 carries for 1,249 yards and eight touchdowns as well as 129 catches for 814 yards and six touchdowns. He added 16 tackles, too.

I don’t think either of these RBs will move the needle significantly on the productivity of this position.
