Saints GM Mickey Loomis Wont’ Say Much About Deals for Brees, Vaccaro and Snead

USA Today Sports

A trio of key Saints have looming contract concerns as the 2017 training camp opens, Joel Erickson of the Advocate reports.

Both quarterback Drew Brees and safety Kenny Vaccaro are playing on the last year of their deals, and productive wide receiver Willie Snead is playing on the $615,000 tender he was offered as an exclusive-rights free agent this offseason.

All three players have expressed a desire in the past to sign long-term deals with New Orleans, but Saints general manager Mickey Loomis kept his cards hidden on the trio of players during his press conference on Wednesday.

“I’d rather not discuss any individual contract until something gets done,” Loomis said.

Snead, who switched agents to work with the high-powered Drew Rosenhaus, signed his tender earlier this week, and Loomis left the waters muddy on whether or not there’s a chance a deal could get done in camp.

“You never know,” Loomis said. “We’ll see how that goes along, and if there’s an announcement to be made, we’ll get it to you.”
