The Saints have lost WR Brandin Cooks for the remainder of the season, as ESPN reports the team has placed him on injured reserve with a wrist injury.
Cooks was having a very good rookie year, becoming an instant threat for Drew Brees, leading all NFL rookies with 53 receptions for 550 yards and three touchdowns.
It was thought at first that the injury suffered by Cooks was a broken thumb, Monday his agent, Jeff Sperbeck, said that Cooks underwent successful surgery to repair a broken thumb and miss 4-to-6 weeks.
Cooks caught five passes for 50 yards and also ran once for 5 yards in the teams 27-10 loss Sunday at home to the Bengals.
Cooks was New Orleans’ first-round pick out of Oregon State in the 2014 draft.
