Saints vs Rams Post Mortem

After watching the game and rejoicing that football is back…….yep, I was dancing because it’s that time of year again, I took a couple of days to settle down and check out what all of the pundits were saying about the Saints performance in their 1st pre-season game. Below are my thoughts on how it went, let me know what you think…
Cooks looked like He's going to be the real deal.

Cooks looked like He’s going to be the real deal.

  • If the running game can consistently produce the same result as we saw in the game against the Rams, the Saints will go very, very, very far in the post season. That said I have to remind myself that this was the 1st pre-season game for both the Rams and the Saints. But on the other hand, the offensive line was not at full strength for the game.
  • Cooks looked good, not great in my opinion, but for a rookie in his first Pro game I was impressed. And to be honest on the touchdown grab that he had, his speed and quickness were exceptional. Okay, he looked very good, but still not great. But boy is he going to be fun to watch.
  • Ryan Griffin was impressive, another outing like that and the competition for the backup QB position is over.
  • Defensive line had several highlights, I was particularly impressed with Walker. He and others showed signs that the interior of the line will be impressive.
  • The defensive secondary play for me was so-so. There were some exceptional plays but it will be interesting to see how the play improves when all of the starters are in.
  • The one thing that was missing to me, and it’s something that the coaches have been harping on in training camp, was turnovers, there were none. This is going to have to be addressed, it was a glaring weakness last year and the one thing that the defense has to improve on this year.

You can’t have any real serious takeaways from watching the first pre-season game, maybe at best some initial thoughts on the 2nd- and 3rd-string players.

Wins and losses don’t matter in pre-season. But one of the areas that have been talked about was the defense’s need to produce more turnover’s. When something is being stressed then it’s eye-opening when you don’t see any results in that area.

Among the watershed books for lesbians in past fifteen years, Louise Rafkin’s Different Daughters provides support for the rainbow notion that love is what makes a family. When the book first appeared in 1987, there were very few resources for the par…
