Saints To Place Franchise Tag On Jimmy Graham

How should the tight end be paid? As a tight end or wide receiver?

The Saints will be placing the franchise tag, as expected, on TE Jimmy Graham, before Monday’s deadline.

It’s a move that isn’t going to sit well with Graham, and his agent, Jimmy Sexton, and the TE will likely file a grievance through the players’ association, asking that Graham be considered a receiver because he lined up out wide or in the slot on 67 percent of his snaps last season.

It is a difference that is going to be a huge difference in money, as the tags for tight ends and receivers are expected to be about $6.7 million and $11.5 million.

In just four seasons Graham has been one of the best pass catchers in the league at whatever position he plays, pulling in 301 receptions for 3,863 yards and 41 touchdowns.

He caught 16 touchdowns last season for the wild card Saints.

  1. Learn more says:

He is a beast. I seen him dragging defenders into the end zone for a touchdowns.

you know he has a habit of changing his gloves regularly in a game like a long distance motorcycle rider. Who cares until we makes that touchdowns.
