NFC South: Let’s Take a Look

I hesitated to go ahead with the title for this post because if we’re honest the only two teams that have something to play for at this point are the Saints and the Panthers.

To be sure Tampa Bay has looked like a different team in the second half of the season, but they are still out of it as far as the playoffs go. The Falcons, well this is a season that a lot of jokes are made of.

NFC South Division
Team W L T Pct
New Orleans 10 3 0 .769
Carolina 9 4 0 .692
Tampa Bay 4 9 0 .308
Atlanta 3 10 0 .231
For the Saints and the Panthers though, the real season lies ahead. The Saints need to win 2 out of their next three games in order to win another NFC South title, while the Panther’s hope  for a NFC title lies in the Saints melting down, otherwise they are looking at a wild card spot.
The Saints Defense needs to bring this kind of pressure this week against the Rams.

The Saints Defense needs to bring this kind of pressure this week against the Rams.

This weekend’s games for both teams are in the gotcha category. The Saints travel to St. Louis to face a team that has been eliminated from the playoffs. If the Chargers upset of the Broncos in Denver isn’t enough to remind the Saints not to overlook the Rams, all they need to do is look at the last time they went to St. Louis. They were big favorites in that game and had their you know what handed to them.  I’m looking for a game where they Saints play like a team that is out to prove that they can win on the road and win big. Saints 35 – 13

The Panthers are still talking about what they are going to do to the Saints when they go to Charlotte in a couple of weeks. The thing is they have a game this weekend against a Jet’s team that while they have been inconsistent (to say the least), still have a chance at an AFC wild-card spot. The Panthers are at risking of being gotcha game losers and I’m going for the upset, Jets 17 -16.
