NFC South Week 8

For the NFC South this week the Saints are traveling to New York, Carolina is at Atlanta and Tampa Bay is making a trip to Seattle. Going into the midway point of the season New Orleans has a 2 game lead on Carolina, who might be one of the surprise teams of the league so far. The Panthers have one three in a row going into the game this week with Atlanta.

Ryan's defense has been a huge part of the 6-1 start to the Saints season.

Ryan’s defense has been a huge part of the 6-1 start to the Saints season.

The Falcons are another surprise team this year but for all of the wrong reasons. The current standings are below and then I have my predictions for this weeks NFC South Games.

NFC South

Team WIn Loss Tie PF PA PCT Upcoming
New Orleans 6 1 0 196 120 .857 @NY Jets
Carolina 4 3 0 170 96 .571 @Atlanta
Atlanta 2 5 0 166 184 .286 Carolina
Tampa Bay 0 7 0 100 163 .000 @Seattle

Saints vs Jets: A couple of side stories in this game, the Ryan boys and Chris Ivory getting to play against the Saints. I would say the Chris Ivory story is the one that will be the most interesting. If the Jets hang in the game and can get Ivory going it could make for a long day for New Orleans. But if the Saints get up early and force the Jets into leaning on their rookie QB Smith it will take the running game which is what the Jets would rather do, out of the game. The Jets are 3-1 this year at home, but I’m going with the Saints 30-17

Panthers vs Falcons: I’ve read in several places lately how the Panthers are coming on and that Cam and the offense have turned things around. I’m still waiting to see them do it consistently on the road. Atlanta is at the point where they virtually have to win 8 out of their last 9 to have a shot at the play-offs, outside of that they are just trying to play spoiler the rest of the year. I’m going with Atlanta, I’m still waiting on Carolina to prove that they can win on the road. Falcons 27 – Panthers 24

Buccaneers vs Seahawks: As I’m sitting here I’m trying my best to come up with a legitimate reason that makes it sound plausible for the Buc’s to go up to Seattle and get a win. Outside of it being a possible gotcha game for Seattle, I got nothing. Seattle 31 Tampa Bay 10
