Bill’s Power Rankings for Week 4

I usually don’t put a lot of stock in power rankings, but with Saints next game being on Monday night, I thought since I have time why don’t I come up with a power ranking that I like, let me know what you think.

One of the big problems I’ve always had was power rankings that began on week 1 of a season. By this point of the season we should have a pretty good idea of what teams are made of. As the season goes on injuries, trades, player performances are the contributing factors to a teams strength.

So please find below the BPR (Bill’s Power Ranking), my personal favorite.

Rank Team W/L SS – 2013 Comments
Broncos 3-0 14  At this point the remaining strength of schedule doesn’t seem to matter. The Broncos are clicking on all cylinders.
SeaHawks 3-0 22 As good as the SeaHawks have looked up to this point in the season it’s hard to not keep them up at the top until something happens to show they don’t belong here.
Saints 3-0 24 The maligned defense of a year ago has been superb and the offense is starting to look like the Saints offense. The next 3 weeks will show whether the Saints belong this high or not.
Bears 3-0 27 The Bears to this point in the season have had everything going for them.  Of the teams they’ve beaten, the Bengals are the only ones that have actually won a game.
Patriots 3-0 16 Brady and company showed some life on offense last week for the 1st time, and they are still 3-0
Dolphins 3-0 7 Two of the Fins 3 wins have been against teams that were in the playoffs a year ago. This week they have to go play in NO.
Chiefs 3-0 26 The Chiefs are looking good, the problem is they are in the same division with the Broncos.
Bengals 2-1 23 Strong start to a promising season.
Lions 2-1 32 The Lions are in a tough division with the Bears and the Packers, having a running game will help Stafford and company in the long run.
Cowboys 2-1 29 Out of the games the Cowboys have played so far only one of the games was against a team with a winning record and that game was on the road and that game they lost.
Titans 2-1 28 Strong running game, good defense. No wonder their 2-1
Texans 2-1 13 Texans got a wake up call against the Ravens last week. Seattle will check and see if they are awake.
Colts 2-1 12 As Luck would have it, the Colts took care of their running game issues with the trade last week.
Ravens 2-1 2 After 3 games it looks like the Ravens have one of the roughest schedules for the rest of the season.
Jets 2-1 15 If someone can tell me how the Jets are 2-1 I’ll be glad to include it in the next power rankings.
49ers 1-2 3 1-2 after three games in the same division as Seattle is no way to go through life Colin.
Packers 1-2 21 The question isn’t why are they 1-2 but how are they 1-2.
Falcons 1-2 8 With Jackson out we’ll see how the Falcons do against a fairly tough schedule.
Eagles 1-2 31 After the Eagles 1st game I was wondering how good this team was. Appears not that good.
Chargers 1-2 25 With the way the Broncos and Chiefs started out,  it is not looking good for the Chargers.
Cardinals 1-2 20 The Cardinals will go as far as Palmer can take them.
Rams 1-2 17 A typical Jeff Fisher team.
Raiders 1-2 11 I can’t believe the are 1-2
Browns 1-2 10 An interesting team to watch, everyone said they were tanking it, then they come up with a big win.
Panthers 1-2 9 The Panthers really needed that win against the Giants last week.
Bills 1-2 6 The Bills have been competive in every game they have played so far this year.
Steelers 0-3 18 I feel comfort in knowing that I am not the only person wondering what is going on with the Steelers.
Redskins 0-3 30 Did RGIII try and come back to soon?
Vikings 0-3 19 Loss to the Lions and Bears….not surprising. Loss to the Browns…wait….what?
Giants 0-3 1 Just hope the coach doesn’t see what the schedule looks like the rest of the year.
Buccaneers 0-3 4 Not sure  what benching Freeman is supposed to do?
Jaguars 0-3 5 Wouldn’t it be nice for Tebow if there was a team close to where he played in college who could use a Quarterback…..
* SS – 2013 is a combination of opponents wins and losses for the games that have already been played up to the current week , wins and losses of  teams that are yet to be played and home and away games remaining to be played. Lower the number, the harder the schedule is for the remainder of the year.
