Arizona is coming to the Dome this Sunday, the Cardinals are 1-1 . On paper this looks like it could be another close game, after two weeks of the season the Saints are ranked 9th on offense and the Cardinals are ranked 12th, while on defense the Saints are ranked 10th and the Cardinals 16th.
Arizona lost a tough game to the Rams to start the season and then won a squeaker in week 2 against the Lions. The leaders for Arizona on offense are Carson Palmer, Rashard Mendenhall and Larry Fitzgerald. The defense has a couple of names that are familiar to sports fans in Louisiana, Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu.
Time to get things straightened out:
As strange as it sounds, this is a game that the Saints need. The offense has struggled the first two weeks of the season and with the schedule getting tougher starting the last part of October, the time to iron out the issues with the running game and pass protection is now. The defense, even with the injuries to the defensive line, is the reason the Saints are 2-0. They are doing their part, now it’s time for the offense to stand up.
Quotes from the Saints:
“Fortunate to get a win. I was proud of the fact that they didn’t quit. There are a lot of things we have to clean up just from a standpoint of red-zone opportunities. Defensively, certainly we played well enough…..We’ve been in a number of games like this and we made a few plays at the end when we needed it. We’ll clean up and have to clean up a lot of things to improve. But it’s hard to win on the road, especially in the division.” — Sean Payton.
“We’re slowly figuring it out,” Saints tight end Jimmy Graham said. “We’re slowly finding the identity of this team, and we have a lot of work to do. We can get so much better.”
“When you’re down and things haven’t been going your way, making critical mistakes, you’ve got to prove it to yourself that you can go on out there and continue to win football games like this,” Brees said. “We proved a lot to ourselves today.”
