On the Outs; Sean Payton and Wife of Near 20 Years Getting a Divorce

It’s pretty safe to say that it hasn’t been the best of years for Saints head coach Sean Payton.

And – it’s only getting worse.

Word has it that Payton and his wife Beth are on the outs, and The Times-Picayune states that the Saints head coach filed a petition in Texas back on June 14th.

Seems that Sean wanted to try and keep it out of the headlines, as the only way it came to light was when it was discovered that Payton used his and his wife’s initials in the petition, and the dates of their and their kids’ birth.

The grounds for the divorce – try “discord or conflict of personalities between Petitioner and Respondent that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”

Uh, ok.

The report says that Sean has already moved out, and also states that Beth filed a counter-petition for divorce on June 26th which requested that she be appointed the custodian “who has the exclusive right to designate the primary residence of the children in Tarrant County, Texas.”

The petition asks that the court schedule Sean Payton’s access to their children “as necessary to protect the health and well-being of the children.”

The saddest part about the divorce outside of the kids – July 11th would have marked the couple’s 20th anniversary.

Arrogance is his middle name. Ok… his first and last name too. I hope the Saints ownership takes a little pride in their team and empties out the Trash. CLASS has never been used in the same sentence as New Orleans Saints

This needs to be left alone for the sake of all involved. It is a private matter and a delicate one at that.

It has been announced because that’s the way it goes but it should go no more.

Please call it a day and the press not having a field day with this.
    Here is hope…

This should have been announced by the party involved.
He was very careful because children were involved.
He is a good man and truly cares for them.
Shame on the one that leaked this.
It was to be heard from the coach’s mouth not the press.
How come they do not get suspended for a year if not forever??

He also did not abandon ship.
You don’t jump ship and expect the captain(coach) to follow.
Knew it SPELLED trouble the minute LEFT state.
You don’t do that and expect smooth sailing.
Can’t keep a good man down even in rough waters even though she muddied the waters.
Behind every good man is a good woman.
    Uh, ok.
    This is NOT his fault.
The writing is on the wall.
    Everyone, please take note…
