Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Month for December and January.
In five games, Brees completed 145-of-197 pass attempts (73.6 percent) for 1,787 yards with 19 touchdowns and three interceptions. Brees set NFL single-season records in 2011 for completions (468) and passing yards (5,476) and his 46 touchdown passes led the NFL in 2011.
Brees winning this months award snaps a four-month streak by Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who won the award in December/January of 2010 and in the first three months of the 2011 season.
Brees and Rodgers are the top two candidates for the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award.
