Mark Ingram Out For The Season

New Orleans Saints first-round running back Mark Ingram will undergo season-ending surgery this week, Mike Triplett of The Times-Picayune confirms.

Ingram’s season-ending surgery was originally reported by Jay Glazer during the FOX pregame show.

The Saints traded back into the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft to select the former Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Alabama. Ingram’s rookie season will end after rushing for 474 yards and five touchdowns on 122 carries.

New Orleans’ leading rusher prior to his injury, Chris Ivory, Pierre Thomas and free agent addition Darren Sproles have shared the duties in the running game, combining for 80 carries for 414 yards yards and two touchdowns, both by Thomas, over the last three weeks.
