Drew Brees named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week, the club announced on Wednesday.

Brees completed 23-of-39 pass attempts for 307 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions in the Saints’ 45-16 win over the Atlanta Falcons. In the process, Brees broke Dan Marino’s 27-year-old single-season passing yards record and tied an NFL record with a sixth consecutive 300-yard passing game.

This is the third time this season Brees has been named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week. Through 15 games, Brees has completed 70.7 percent of 622 pass attempts for 5,087 yards with 41 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
