Drew Brees named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week, the team announced on Tuesday.

Brees completed 24-of-38 pass attempts for 363 yards and four touchdowns, and scored his first rushing touchdown of the season, in last night’s 49-24 win over the New York Giants.

On the season, Brees leads the NFL in passing completions (323), attempts (460) and yards (3,689) and is third behind Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady with 27 touchdown passes and a 103.6 passer rating.

For Brees, this is the 12th time he’s earned his conference’s Player of the Week award in his career and second time this season. Brees won the same honor after completing 31-of-35 pass attempts for 325 yards and five touchdowns in a Sunday Night Football win over the Indianapolis Colts.
