Saints loss to Rams: “It felt like a nightmare”

Saints left tackle Jermon Bushrod said he was “in shock” after Sunday’s shocking loss in St. Louis and described it as the worst loss the Saints have had since he joined the club as a rookie in 2007.

“It kind of felt like a nightmare,” he said. “We’ve got to refocus and put this tough one behind us, because the more we harp on yesterday, the more it’s going to eat us up.”

Drew Brees, who threw a career-high 22 interceptions last year, already has ten picks on the season, after throwing a pair to the Rams in Week 8, noted that the trip home after the loss on Sunday was quiet.

“It was very quiet,” Brees said Monday concerning the journey back to New Orleans after the Rams loss. “That’s because we have a lot of guys who really care.”

“The truth hurts. We’ve lost two out of three and we’ve lost them in similar ways,” Brees added. “We’ve turned the ball over, which will get you beat. We haven’t been as balanced as we should be on offense, so that’s a matter of execution.”

This Sunday in the Superdome, Brees will be hosting another turnover-prone quarterback (Josh Freeman, ten interceptions), and it will be interesting to see who limits their mistakes and executes in what will be a very-important NFC South battle – especially when you consider the Saints have to travel to the Georgia Dome the following week.
