Saints dynamic second-year running back Chris Ivory returned to practice on Wednesday, officially opening the three-week window (PUP list) for the club to add him to the 53-man roster.
Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Tiffin University, which followed a stint at Washington State, Ivory led the Saints with 716 yards and five rushing scores in 2010 before being placed on injured reserve with a foot injury in January.
The Saints rank 9th in the NFL in rushing, with Ingram leading the team with 329 yards (3.9 yards per carry) and three touchdowns through seven games.
Ingram injured his heel during Sunday night’s 62-7 win over the Colts and did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
