Could Former Colts Safety Bob Sanders Wind Up in New Orleans?

The Colts on Friday released former NFL Defensive MVP Bob Sanders, who had played his entire career with the Colts. No question that when healthy, Sanders is a top notch safety, but injuries have flat out killed him. As for where he ends up next, Pat Yasinskas of ESPN says that the Saints could be in the market for Sanders depending on the price.

Here’s a quick tidbit from his chat today on ESPN about Sanders and the Saints.

Are any teams in the NFC South a good fit for Bob Sanders? I think he’s a great compliment to Malcom Jenkins in the Saints’ backfield.

Pat Yasinskas

Could see him with Saints or Bucs. Yes, he and Jenkins could be a great tandem. Bucs also need help at safety. Wouldn’t be surprised if either team makes a run at him before March 3.

“Yes, he and Jenkins could be a great tandem.” – you mean Sanders & Sharper, right?

Sharper is a future HoFer, while Jenkins pretty much sucks. Jenkins had 1 good game and another with a single good hustle play on Roy Williams after getting burnt. The rest of the season, NO was covering up for Jenkins’ lack of range by playing Greer & Porter off, and mixing in looks, some that included Sharper on the field with him.

SP can praise MJ all he wants, but anyone actually watching won’t be fooled by the confidence building remarks. Its no different than the praise he gives Shanle, who is bad enough that most people see it.
