Saints put cornerback Randall Gay on injured reserve

The Saints have put cornerback Randall Gay on injured reserve with a concussion, head coach Sean Payton announced on Wednesday. Payton does not expect Gay’s concussion to be career-threatening.

Free agent defensive back Quincy Butler has been signed to fill Gay’s roster spot. A former undrafted free agent out of TCU, Butler (6-1, 188) started 7 of 14 games for the St. Louis Rams last season, totaling 28 tackles and 5 passes defensed. Prior to last season, Butler had appeared in two games, including one with the Cowboys during his rookie season.
