Saints Owner Comments on Vicodin Case

Even Saints owner Tom Benson has something to say on the pending Vicodin scandal which has plauged the Saints the last couple of weeks.

“I can’t tell you exactly how I feel about that, but it’s a typical type of somebody that isn’t happy, and they file suit on you,” Benson said before serving as keynote speaker at a Salvation Army banquet in San Antonio. “I better not say anything more or I’ll get myself in trouble.”

But he had more to say about the man filing the lawsuit against the team.

“I will say it’s sort of the fact (Geoffrey Santini) resigned and then we won the Super Bowl,” Benson said. “I’d be unhappy too if I had resigned, and (team president) Rita (Benson LeBlanc) had won the Super Bowl.”

Santini, a 31-year FBI veteran, claims that Saints general manager Mickey Loomis asked him to find out who was stealing Vicodin from a medicine cabinet in the team’s training room but then covered up the results of Santini’s investigation.
