Saints Almost Traded A 2nd Day Pick For Giants DT Barry Cofield

Jason La Canfora of reports that the Saints and G-Men almost pulled off a deal for DT Barry Cofield during the weekends NFL Draft:

The New Orleans Saints and New York Giants came close to completing a trade for defensive tackle Barry Cofield during the draft. Talks were to the stage that the Saints were given permission to speak to Cofield, a restricted free agent who had a second-round tender placed on him. When talks fell through the Saints moved up in the draft to select LSU DT Al Woods.
