2010 NFL Gridiron Gab NFL Mock Draft: #26 Arizona

The Arizona Cardinals is a team in transition. Having recently lost QB Kurt Warner to retirement and LB Karlos Dansby to free agency, the Cardinals must find new faces to fill in those gaps. Will Matt Leinhart be the solution at QB for Ken Whisenhut’s team, a season removed from playing in the Super Bowl? Who will replace Dansby in the Card’s 3-4 scheme? Just some of the many questions the Cardinals are faced with this year.

And with the 26th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select..

LB Sean Weatherspoon, Missouri

ESPN’s Mel Kiper likes Weatherspoon going to the Cardinals. Here’s his take on Weatherspoon..

Before you say “But Arizona needs an inside linebacker” remember that Karlos Dansby was also an OLB at Auburn before he became a star for the Cardinals on the inside. That’s who Weatherspoon can replace from day one in Arizona’s 3-4. Weatherspoon is solid versus the run or the pass, and is a tackling machine. A natural fit here.

Mike Miller of New Era Scouting gives his take on Weatherspoon..

Sean Weatherspoon is one of those prospects that will give a team exactly what they think he is going to upon drafting him. He is a reliable inside-out defender that will make plays because of his consistent ability to always end a play near the ball. He is a natural leader that never stops his mouth, keeping his teammates motivated and on track. He has physical limitations, especially out in space, but he is athletic enough to start in the league right away. If a team is looking for a MIKE linebacker that will end each year with 120+ tackles, then Weatherspoon will be high on their board. Probable first rounder that could sneak in to the top 20.
