2010 NFL Gridiron Gab Mock Draft:# 29 New York Jets

The Jets are finishing up an impressive haul of free agents. Antonio Cromartie, LaDanian Tomlinson, Jay Feely, Santonio Holmes, and Jason Taylor alll have found a new home in the New Jersey Meadowlands.Combine that with the improbable playoff run that saw them hang close with the Colts in the AFC Championship Game and the opening of the new stadium, it sure is an exciting time to be a Jets fan.

And with the 29th pick in the NFL Draft, the New York Jets select..

DE Jared Odrick, Penn State

Chris Cipriano of JetsGab likes Odrick and offers his reasoning for taking the young DE from Penn State..

The Jets need to get younger along the defensive line as Shaun Ellis turns 33 this summer. As of now their other projected starter would be Mike DeVito, who is best suited for a back up role. Odrick can step in immediately and give the a steady presence along the defensive line. He may not be flashy, but should be a solid starter for years to come.

Todd McShay agrees with Chris’ selection, offering these word on Odrick..

The Jets are aging a bit along the defensive front and Odrick would be a nice addition given his quick first step. He could work in a rotation early in his career before eventually taking over as a full-time starter, and with his relentless style Odrick has “Rex Ryan” written all over him.
