2010 NFL Gridiron Gab Mock Draft: #15 NY Giants

Another quiet team this off season it seems. First the team loses LB Antonio Pierce. Now rumors abound about the departure of DE Osi Umenyiora. Do I see the Giants drafting for defense?

And with the 15th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select,

LB Rolando McClain, Alabama

Jeremy Fuchs of GiantsGab defends his selection..

After the decline and subsequent release of Antonio Pierce, the Giants
biggest need is middle linebacker. While they do have some promising
in-house options, no one is capable of being an immediate starter.
Enter Rolando McClain.

Rolando McClain is a smart, athletic middle linebacker. He was the
leader of the best defense in college. While not the best in pass
coverage, he’s more than adequate, and is great in run support. The
Giants can plug McClain in and start him for the next 10 years.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper agrees..

McClain is the top inside linebacker in the draft, and the Giants should be happy to grab him at No. 15. A fiery leader, instinctive and a great tackler, McClain’s diagnostic skills point to great coaching.

Let’s see what’s going on so far…
