And With The Fifth Pick In the 2010 NFL Draft..

The 2010 NFL Gridiron Gab Mock Draft heats up once again…

Top DT Gerald McCoy, whom many believe would have been on the board by now, is still available. Two OT have been taken thus far. And trade swap rumors abound..

Next on the clock is the AFC ‘s Kansas City Chiefs, a team with a proud tradition that has seen better days. GM Scott Pioli begins his second year with the club. The club has a lot of needs, primarily along the offensive line. The team also has secondary needs at LB, S, and WR.

And without further ado, the Kansas City Chiefs select…

S Eric Berry, Tennessee

ESPN’s Mel Kiper agrees with Berry going to the Chiefs in this spot. His thoughts on the All-American

Any question marks about Berry’s physical skills were answered impressively during the testing phase, which is all he needed to maintain his standing as the premier safety of not just this draft, but as perhaps one of the best we’ve seen in a while. I can see the Chiefs being tempted by other players here, but Berry is a top talent and fills a need. I’ll say it again: the Ed Reed comparisons are legit.

Again, suprised that Gerald McCoy is still undrafted? The Cheifs are another team which runs a 3-4 defense not suitable for McCoy’s game.

Berry is the best athlete available at this spot which fulfills a need for the Chiefs. He is an excellent playmaker with great vision and provides an instant upgrade for the defense.

And the draft goes on. Here’s a quick recap of the action so far..

5. Kansas City Chiefs- S Eric Berry, Tennessee
4. Washington Redskins- OT Trent Williams, Oklahoma
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DT Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska
2. Detroit Lions- OT Russell Okung, Oklahoma State
1. St. Louis Rams – QB Sam Bradford, Oklahoma

Next on the clock…the Seattle Seahawks
