2010 NFL Gridiron Gab Mock Draft

We at the NFLGridironGab Network put our NFL experts to the test and present to you the fans our 2010 NFL Mock draft. Here is who our panel of writers think their respective team will draft come next Thursday. So let’s begin, shall we?

And with the first pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams select…

QB Sam Bradford, Oklahoma

Jeff Roman of RamsGab.com asses on why he picked Bradford over any of the heralded DTs in the draft.

This was an extremely difficult selection for me, but Bradford checks a lot of boxes for the quarterback the Rams need. Dr. James Andrews completed Bradford’s shoulder surgery and Andrews is the gold standard in athletic surgery. So, I don’t worry about his shoulder injury from last season. Bradford added muscle from the end of his season to the combine, which helps (but does not eliminate) the fears about his fragility. However, Bradford comes out a spread offense, which sets off alarm bells to anyone familiar with highly drafted QBs such as Alex Smith. But, Bradford took anywhere from 40 to 50% of his snaps from under center and his offense in Oklahoma was not the typical “point and shoot” offense from other spread offense schools such as Texas Tech.

It’s so hard to pass up on Ndamukong Suh. He’s the most dominant defensive lineman coming out of college in the past decade and the Rams need some help in their run defense especially when they get carved up by running backs such as Justin Forsett. However, the Rams picked up Fred Robbins to complete their defensive tackle rotation of Robbins, Adam Carriker, Clifton Ryan and Darell Scott. That’s by no means a championship tackle rotation, but will be passable.

Right now, Bradford is on track to be 100% healthy and throw on his pro day on March 29th. If Bradford is healthy and throws well on his pro day, the Rams will take Sam Bradford. He’s not a great quarterback prospect, but he passes a lot of tests for the Rams and will be a quality quarterback in the NFL.”

On the clock…the Detroit Lions
