12 Players with Bumps and Bruises; Brees Not One of Them

NOLA.com has an update on the Saints bumps and bruises:

The Saints listed 12 players who would not have practiced, Jeremy Shockey (knee), tailback Pierre Thomas (ribs), tailback Lynell Hamilton (ankle), offensive tackle Zach Strief (shoulder), safety Darren Sharper (knee), safety Roman Harper (shoulder), cornerback Randall Gay (foot), cornerback Malcolm Jenkins (hamstring), linebacker Jonathan Vilma (knee), defensive end Will Smith (groin), defensive end Bobby McCray (back) and kick returner Courtney Roby (knee). They listed another 12 players who would have been limited, receiver Robert Meachem (ankle), receiver Lance Moore (ankle), guard Jahri Evans (toe), offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod (thumb), center Jonathan Goodwin (knee), tight end Darnell Dinkins (foot), defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis (knee), linebacker Scott Fujita (knee), linebacker Jonathan Casillas (ankle), cornerback Jabari Greer (hip/groin), safety Usama Young (hip) and safety Pierson Prioleau (quadriceps). It’s worth noting that quarterback Drew Brees is nowhere on the list, there was some speculation during Sunday’s NFC Championship Game that he might have suffered a shoulder injury that was affecting his throws but Brees seemed fine after the game, and apparently he’s fine now.

  1. The Saints did not practice Wed. afternoon. They resume practice for the Super Bowl on Thursday.

Payton is giving his dinged up starters more time to rest up after a physical game against the Vikings.

The hypothetical list was only released as the NFL asked them to produce a list because the Colts practiced Wed.
