Saints Fans March To Beat of a Different Drum

Anyone who lives or has visited New Orleans knows how much music is part of the city’s culture..whether it’s jazz pouring from the clubs on Bourbon or rhythm and beats from the nearby swamps or even the lyrics of one Little Wayne Carter of Marrero.

This year, with the Saints’ success, a whole crop of tribute songs has sprung from every corner of the city. Everyone and their mother will tell you which one they like most..from the smooth trumpet of Kermit Ruffin’s “A Saints Christmas” to the rhymes of Dee-1 and Shamarr Allen’s “Bring ‘Em To the Dome”, there’s something for everyone on’s list of favorite tribute songs.

Here’s one of my favrorites that always gets me going by K. Gates called “Black and Gold.”

Oh, and check out Vikings fan Prince’s new fight song called “Purple and Gold.” Ouch! At least we’ve come a long way from Aaron Neville’s “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
