The Saints waived CB Chris McAlister after a three week stint with the team. No reasons were given for the release, although McAlister did struggle out on the field at times during the game Sunday against the Redskins. The effects of a lingering PCL injury have taken a toll on his knee as he could not return to the form that made him a feared All-Pro CB with the Baltimore Ravens.

In his place, the Saints signed free agent CB Marcus McCauley, a 2007 third round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings. McCauley has played 27 games in his NFL career, all but one with the Vikings. He did see some action in the Saints season opener as a member of the Detroit Lions. He also had a brief stint in Tampa Bay this season. He adds another young, athletic body to the depleted Saints secondary.

Saints LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar is out for the season as the team placed him on the Injured Reserve List. Dunbar is the 13th Saint on the IR list this season, the most in the NFL. He injured his hamstring during the first quarter of the Saints victory Sunday.
