The Road to 16-0: Atlanta Falcons (Georgia Dome)

Before we begin let’s look at the undefeated Saints remaining four:

1. @ Atlanta Falcons (6-6)
2. Dallas Cowboys (8-4)
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-11)
4. @ Carolina Panthers (5-7)

As you can see, there isn’t much room for error considering that three out of the four are division games. Now with Minnesota’s loss to Arizona on Sunday night, the Saints have a two game lead in the conference. Last week, the Black and Gold held off a close game to the Redskins but this is the next week and the past is gone.

The Saints take a trip to Atlanta as they re-match the 6-6 Falcons. The Falcons are coming off of a terrible loss to the Philadelphia Eagles but they had no Matt Ryan and no Michael Turner. This game isn’t really a big deal for the Falcons considering the Saints have already won the division, but they need to practically run the table as they are two games behind the top wild card teams (8-4 Packers, 8-4 Eagles or Cowboys). For the Saints… they are looking to take this season all the way to 16-0. Last week was a reality check for New Orleans so they will be looking to rebound, and although they already have the NFC South this game will lock a first round bye and a great division record.

Thankfully for the Falcons, Matt Ryan returns to the field after a turf-toe injury. You can say the Falcons are slumping as they have lost five out of their last seven games. Their offense ranks sixteenth and playoffs are starting to look dim. The Saints, on the other hand, are still in the top five in all three categories (#1 Overall, #3 Passing, #5 Rushing). They have gone up in the passing category after Brees’ 420 yard game against Washington. Overall I think this is going to be a high scoring game as both offenses are looking to outscore each other with bad defenses. Atlanta does have the home-field advantage so it will be interesting to see if Matt Ryan can out-play Drew Brees.

My Key Match-Up: Drew Brees VS. Matt Ryan
