Injury Updates

The injury bug that has plauged the Saints all season has struck once more. This time, the Saints will be without four players on defense for Sunday’s matchup against the Redskins.

In a suprising move, starting LB Scott Fujita was downgraded from probable to out for Sunday’s game due to the lingering effects of a knee injury. Fujita missed three games earlier this season with a strained calf. Jo-Lonn Dunbar will likely get the start.

The Saints secondary will be without the services of CBs Jabari Greer and Randall Gay. Greer, who injured his groin in a Week 9 win vs. Carolina, will miss his fourth straight game. Gay, the primary nickle back for most of the season until Greer’s injury, injured his hamstring in last week’s game vs. New England. Malcolm Jenkins and Mike McKenzie will likely play with the first unit again this week, and recent signing Chris McAlister will serve as the extra CB in nickel packages.

LB Marvin Mitchell, listed on the Saints depth chart as the backup MLB to Jonathan Vilma, is also out with a hamstring injury.
