Saints Topple Patriots 38-17

How about them Saints?

The Saints keep rolling as they are now 11-0 in the season and showed that they are not to be messed with.

Fuelled by the electrifying play of Drew Brees and the offense, the Saints hung up 38 points on the New England Patriots. With only five incompletions, Drew Brees finished the game with a perfect passer rating, and amassed 371 yards and 5 touchdowns. Each touchdown went to different receivers. The running attack filled in well with 113 yards.

In his first game back in the Superdome since his first Super Bowl victory, Tom Brady, put up 237 yards and had 2 interceptions. Bill Belichick’s offense failed to put up more than 20 points for the first time since a Week 5 loss to the Broncos. Brady became New England’s all time leading passer in yards.

Once again, the Saints had a slow start as they had only 3 points in the first quarter. The fireworks begun in the second quarter when running back Pierre Thomas caught a pass from Brees and scampered 18 yards down the sideline for the touchdown. Their next possession lasted 9 seconds as Brees completed a 75-yard bomb to Devery Henderson. Marques Colston, Robert Meachem, and tight end Darnell Dinckins had the other touchdowns.

The New Orleans defense had their best outing of the season. With 2 interceptions, they remain on top of the league in that category. Mike McKenzie in his first game action in over a year had an interception and broke up a fourth-down pass intended for Kevin Faulk in the third quarter. Darren Sharper added an interception and is now tied for the league lead with 8.

The Saints and the Indianapolis Colts are the first teams to have 11-0 records in the same season.

The Saints will now have to start fielding questions about a possible undefeated season. The Saints’ next opponents are: at Washington, at Atlanta, Dallas, Tampa Bay, at Carolina.
