My son is at the game, and I can promise you it’s not such a happy scene. He is a 17 year old man that was to be sworn into the Marines through the delayed entry program along with several other eager young men. Upon arrival, not only were they told that they were not going to have the honor of being sworn in on the field before the game, but also that they were not going to be able to enjoy the game from Tom Benson’s suite as promised but also that they could not even have tickets to stay and enjoy the game. They were sworn in through a make-shift ceremony outside the dome and are now all there with nothing but disappointment. These are children who were displaced and lost everything through Katrina, have watched friends and family members have their lives turned upside down from the war and yet are still willing to support their city, their country and the Saints. These are strong, resiliant kids that any mother would be proud of. It is just cruel that they are still willing to put their hearts and lives on the line only to be rewarded with such disappointment
