It looks like Usama Young finally has a spot on the field to play, as reports were after the drafting of Ohio State CB Malcolm Jenkins 14th overall, Young was not sure on where he would fit with the team. Now though, the Times-Picayune reports that Young will move to free safety.
Young will compete with free-agent pickups Darren Sharper and Pierson Prioleau, who played for new Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams in Jacksonville, Washington and Buffalo.
“I’m learning a lot from Darren Sharper and taking as much information from him as possible,” said Young. “I’m picking his brain every day, trying to watch film with him and ask him what he looks at.
“I’m excited to get this thing going. It’s going to be a lot in the transition, but it’s a little less of a transition because I can start off on a fresh, clean slate. It’s a whole other defensive scheme under Coach Williams. It’s a whole other terminology. Everybody is learning on the job.”
