The Saints have agreed to a deal with free agent fullback Heath Evans. He was a third-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2001, and has played for Seattle, Miami, and the last four seasons as the lead fullback for the New England Patriots. The Saints should use him as a short-yardage power back in 2009 and beyond. Last season with the Pats, he had just 11 carries for 23 yards. Two years ago he did score three TD’s as the Pats went 16-0 in the regular season, only to lose to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

A lot of speculation about if Heath Evens is legit and how well he’ll jell with this new role in the Saints backfield. We all know how great Mike was to the team and his blocking skill were if not the best in the league, amongst the top. How will Evens help the Saints and what can we expect from him? Any thoughts?
