Mare Placed on IR, Gramatica Signed

Courtesy of pretending to be a tackler, and as the end result injuring himself, New Orleans Saints kicker Olindo Mare has been placed on the injured reserve list, ending his season.  Team head coach Sean Payton said that based on initial reports and test results, his injury won’t require surgery but at the same time will not allow him to play.

The Saints addressed the kicking issue by signing veteran kicker Martin Gramatica on Wednesday.  Gramatica worked out with the Saints on Wednesday and kicked off well, which hastened the signing.  Gramatica has made 77% of his field goal attempts in an 8-year career during which he spent time with Tampa Bay, Dallas and Indianapolis.
