Safety Steve Gleason Placed on Injured Reserve

Steve Gleason, a back up safety and a special teams player, was put on injured reserve by the New Orleans Saints following arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in June. He will be out for the entire season. Gleason is best known for his blocked punt in the Saints’ home opener last season in the memorable victory over the Atlanta Falcons (pictured above). The Saints will miss him this season but it gives the opportunity for some younger players to make an impact on special teams.
